ABOUT US!
We are a team of trained educators with backgrounds in music, math and Spanish.
A Chiquiticos instructor presents our curriculum face-to-face in an interactive, musical experience.
We are passionate about music and the role it plays in early development!
Chiquiticos (Cheek Ee Teek O’s)
is Spanish for “little ones” or “Itsy bitsy.”
We are a development organization with the goal of promoting the integral development of children. Music and playful learning, our core educational tools, contribute to the development of memory, facilitate the expression of feelings and ideas, help children to critically assess concepts, favor their socio-cultural integration, and expand their linguistic possibilities.
MEET OUR DIRECTOR
María Huertas
FOUNDER / PEDAGOGY DIRECTOR
Maria is a native Spanish speaker from Colombia. She is a singer, composer, educator and founder of Chiquiticos. Maria studied classical voice, media studies and Music at the University of California – Berkeley.
The idea of Chiquiticos (colloquial Spanish for “little ones”) was born from Maria’s love for children and music. After years of professional experience as a teacher in the areas of music and foreign languages, Maria Huertas recognized the important psychological and social functions of music in early learning and is working to integrate it into a general education curriculum. She used her background and training in music to create a program that would be fun, enriching, and original. She created the materials, songs, and lessons of Chiquiticos herself, bringing to life a program from the heart.
